The last surviving tree, a mangrove tree, on the island of Maungadabu. The island is now underwater at high tide, all the other trees on the island have died and collapsed. Maungadabu island is part of the Kiribati atoll in the Pacific Ocean. The islands, and their way of life, are endangered by rising sea water levels which are eroding the fragile atoll, home to approximately 92,000 people.
