200502 Kiribati Atoll, King Tides... (63/94)

A family living next to the sea in the village of Betio, on the Pacific island of Kiribati, pull themselves from the high waves of the 'king tide' which came to the fragile atoll this week, peaking at 2.87 metres.The islands, and their way of life, are endangered by rising sea water levels which are eroding the fragile atoll, home to approximately 92,000 people.
